Theories don't make me feel 100% safe

I was traveling with a low cost airline company. The rain was pouring down and there were lightening even before start.
The route seemed to be right through the worst thundercloud. It was all dark and I saw lightening through the window.
I guess it's almost an everyday scenario for a pilot, but definitely isn't for me.

I know all that with the Faradays cage theory, but still, in reality, couldn't it do some damage..??
