Time for the contest where ABBA first made a break through

The Swedish Melodyfestival has some traditions, because it was in this contest where ABBA won 1974 with Waterloo. My private tradition has been to follow the contest during the years, and of course also the European Song Contest (as the European final is called).

Who can forget all the French and English ballads? For instance "Comme la vie, les yeux de lumiere" or whatever we girls were singing for months.

I remember when Waterloo was first played on TV and my dad pointed ABBA out as winners. When he likes a piece of music the hair raise on his head hihi.. I've got long hair..

Nowadays they play all the songs both on radio and TV just as they like, which makes it into a completely different competition.

Here are the results from my private jury. I've just got two groups, OK and not OK.

OK:

Jessica. A ballad that made me feel a bit of shivering.

Al Fakir. This song sticks like none of the others. This time I felt something too. Looks like a strong candidate to become a winner. Can't say I like him though..

My favorite is still Anna Bergendal. Her song and the way she sings it makes me shiver from start. Maybe her performance wasn't absolutely perfect. She doesn't seem like a pro yet, but she'll be back.

I like Darin (although my kids dislike him. This guy has got talent and feeling, which comes through, but I think the song was too boring)

Not OK. I didn't feel anything when I listened to the songs performed by these singers:

Pernilla. Her song is boring and too familiar and I personally I don't like her because she doesn't seem to have any integrity. Give other singers the chance!

A Johnson. Isn't there a maximum number of times a person can participate in this contest?, Give others the chance! (No, I don't find him sexy although he behaves as if he was the most sexy guy on earth)

Timotej. A very nice group of sweet young girls. But the song.... it feels like I have heard it too many times already. Logically, they could have a chance in Europe because they look good, but I don't feel anything at all.

Peter J. He is a great singer, and the song is great too, but I don't feel anything. He is very professional, but I don't understand what's wrong.

Ola. His song is OK, and I really like the piano part, and he makes a good impression, and the melody has become popular on the radio, but no feeling here.

Saade, The song was OK, but a bit boring soundwise. Standard.

Well, let's see what the rest of the audience think. When listening to last years European winner, I didn't shiver either :(

By the way, to allow a B-actor (or rather C-actor) to promote his participation in a movie in the show is NOT OK. Besides, someone should tell him to only sing in the shower...
