The old teacher's comment

Some days ago I ran into a teacher from school who used to know my family. She said "Of course you can have your company if you want, you are a "(my last name)".
That made me completely stunned. We don't run companies in my family! And I'm not from some fancy rich family. Her comment didn't make sense to me. Yet, it felt like it was more of a reflection, than she just wanted to say something nice.

Since then I've been trying to see things from her point of view. We kids were extremely ambitious at school, that's true. Maybe she had noted that we didn't have a tradition to study, but yet we all went to University or High School and got good jobs. Or maybe she was thinking of my mother who is a strong woman, and tend to realize whatever ideas she has got.

So now I'm thinking, I was bright at school and people tell me I'm like my strong mother. Old teachers aren't stupid.
