Interesting. My question below happened to be answered in SvD by a professor who quoted the minister of defense, so I guess it is correct... There were at least five different reasons; the safety of the local people, the safety of Sweden, to stop the opium business, democracy, equal treatment of men and women.

If someone gives me 5 reasons in my private life, I doubt that the person is telling the truth. If I invite you to dinner and you give me five reason why you can't make it, I will assume you don't want to come (which you wouldn't tell me would you).
