A celebration to the enlightenment

In Sweden we learn the European history, the darkness of middle age, as well as the times of enlightenment at school. The thoughts and the philosophy before the French revolution is very well known to most student, as well as how the ideas of equality and democracy came about in different countries etc.

I am not sure all students in the rest of the world is studying the European history as we do. In some countries I'm sure they study the history of their royal emperors, in other countries the history of their presidents.

The 10the of December the Nobel prize is handed out by the Swedish king. Listening to speeches and discussions around the subjects of the prices these days always feels enlightening, and is really in the tradition of the historic enlightening.

I believe the Nobel prize is encouraging young people to study, especially science. I believe it is a celebration to the success of science and evolution when people are allowed to question things. If you don't question the "state of the art" there is no evolution...
